Stuff we did the day before today

Yesterday we went to Odaiba. It was quite nice. We finally got to a museum that wasn:t closed! We went to the museum of science and innovation or something, and it was awesome!

10 minutes after we arrived the Honda ASIMO robot did a demonstration. I was so excited to see ASIMO in real life!! He kicked a soccer ball and ran a bit. No stairs though. He must save that for more important occasions. There was also a superconductor demonstration and some other robot demos. It would be nice if they had awesome museums like that here in australia.

They had some cool exhibitions on the international space station, and human senses and particle physics. I enjoyed them. The staff were nice and helpfull. Also chris and I got to controll a virtual reality simulator to control a robot. That was pretty exciting. I was excited.

After the museum, we stopped by the Toyota Mega Web showroom. I took a ride in an electric car that drove itself around the showroom. That was kinda cool.

We also walked around the park in the area which was nice. For some reason they have a replica of the statue of liberty there.

At night we hung around shimbashi station for a while. We went to the suntory bar and drank whisky and ate takoyaki. The takoyaki were really good. The whisky was alright. We were interviewed by some people with a camera about our thoughts on whisky and takoyaki.

Oh well - better go have a shower. Not sure what is in stall for today, but I need to buy another SD card! after 2600 photos the card finally ran out of room. WHOOOPS!!!!!

Did I mention that I bought an alien costume?

i want to have breakfast but there is nowhere to sit

I want to go and have breakfast but there are no free tables so I thought I would update the blogalog.

The night before yesterday we went to a izakaya which is like the japanese version of a pub. We had some tasty food and beers.

Yesterday we went to yokohama. It was very pretty. We went to a park and walked around, then headed off to find the curry museum. After hours and hours of searching and walking around and asking people questions, we finally found out that the museum had closed down . After that we went to the mitsubishi industral museum but that was closed until tomorrow. Story of the holiday!

Finally we went to the landmark tower which was open. Its japans tallest building and I think it might have the worlds fastest elevator in it. I took some photo's of mount fuji at sunset. Hopefully they look good.

After yokohama we went to shinjuku to buy presents. I also bought myself an alien costume. I think I am going to wear it to yoyogi park on sunday.

looks like there is a free table. CYA!

Australian embassy

At the australian embassy at the moment - jeffs passport got damaged and he has to get an emergency one.

For lunch we went to an indian curry place - they had a lunch special which was pretty good.

Now we are just waiting for the passport to be put together. They should just insert a chip in your neck with your passport and japan rail pass so you don't need to worry about little peices of paper getting lost etc etc.

So instead of today going to yokohama - tomorrow will probably be yokohama.

Trip is coming to near an end. :( I think all the corrective actions I have thought of so far is to learn how to cross country ski, and maybe to take some more japanese classes.

Herro!

Went to Kyoto the day before yesterday and mitsu somethingorratehr yesterday

Did a walk through some torri at tokyo which are these big orange archway things. They let up to heaps and heaps of shrines and through a little forest. It was a nice walk. At the end we went to some temple thing and it was very large. The shrines are pretty cool. There were lots of people there. I had a good day. I think other people did too.

Yesterday Jeff and I climbed mitsu something or rather mountain which is near Mt Fuji - had some great views of Mt Fuji. The walk was a little harder than expected due to some snow and making the wrong turn after half way which substantially increased walking distance :/. All in all however it was good to climb to the top. My butt muscles are well worked out - a consistant 2 hour descent up to 1700M will do that. I havn`t freaked out from heights in a long time, but there was a part where you had about a 20cm wide area to put your foot, and if you slipped all you had was a flimsy rope made side gate (i.e nothing) to save you before falling down the mountain. I freaked out a little. But then I went and it was all ok. In true japanese style there was a beer vending machine at the top of the mountain. There was also a MASSIVE dog. For a second I thought it was a bear. But I don:t think there are any polar bears that sort of look like a dog in japan. Maybe this is the only one. There were lots of nice things to look at but I was too lazy to drag my camera along with me. That was probably for the best.

Speaking of vending machines - jeff and I tried out hot chips from a vending machine last night. Guey and all stuck together, but they definately tasted like chips.

Last sunday afternoon we went to yoyogi park to check out the crazy people. There weren:t any crazy people really, but I did get an awesome engrish jacket. I am so proud of it but don:t know where I will be able to wear it because it is hideously offensive. I had to get it though otherwise I would regret it for the rest of my life. AND it was on sale!!!!

Today we are going to go to yokohama. There is a curry museum. Jeff and hugh are excited! I think. actually everyone is still asleep except for me. Whoops! I fell asleep before everyone though so I had an excuse.

I am going to stop drinking

I am pretty hungover right now - I havn:t had a drink since last night but I still feel rotton.

We went to roppongi last night to check out some of the clubs. They all had cover charges and the drinks were expensive. Not really my scene at all but it was good to experience it. There is nothing like it that I have ever been to.

Today we just walked around and looked at stuff in Ebisu, Akihabara and shinjuku. I bought a `mag cube` which is a cube made up of little tiny magnet balls

Tomorrow I am taking the vending machine challenge - everything I eat and drink has to be from a vending machine. Wish me luck!

Also we are going to visit the imperial palace.

I am at an internet cafe right now drinking free milo.

Damn I feel seedy. I am also a bit tired - Will probably have an early night tonight.

I have bit a little lax on taking pictures over the last couple of days. not that I am making much of an effort to upload them - sorry. I will catch up one day I promise!!!!

I am looking forward to maybe doing a couple of hikes soon - also hopefully we will make it down to kyoto some time.

In Shibuya

Hello

We checked into our shibuya hotel tonight, It is pretty fancy ppants. At the moment I am in an internet cafe. I feel a little bit seedy and hungover but not too bad. Everyone else seems good. Looked around at shops in shibuya today. Some of them are pretty cool. Yesterday we went to Harajuku and Shinjuku. Found a CD I had been looking for for ages but always had trouble getting (nifelheim - servants of darkness), also got a shirt and a jumper from the GAP shop. Just in time too because its damn cold at night here.

Harajuku is pretty good. We had crepe ice cream things for lunch which are awesome.

Like i mentioned before, at night we went to kareoke with an ex-work friend who lives here and had an awesome time. They have tambourines at the places and all you can drink. I had many gin and tonics.

Not sure of new years eve plans, I think we are heading over to roppongi to check out some places.

Oh well enough from me now - updates shall arrive sometime in the future.
